My Post-Secondary Plan Once I have completed my last high school year, and graduate, I am planning to attend college right away, in the following semester. I am applying to many coastal schools in California, most of them are in the Bay Area and south. First I would like to attend a smaller, more social focused state college. The top pick on my list right now is Monterey State College. Since researching this school and even driving around the campus to check out the area, I’ve really fallen in love with the school and I’d be thrilled to start college studying there. After attending a state school for two years, I’m going to apply to a UC school for the rest of my college years to complete my major and earn a Bachelor’s degree. My top choice for a UC school would be Santa Cruz, which I have also driven through and loved. Aside from driving around the campuses, I haven’t researched many specific things from the schools that would be helpful to know. I would like to know in the future what the diversity is, how many students and staff there are, but also how many students succeed and in what major. At both the state school and the UC I’d love to study Marine Biology or Science. I have stuck to this pre-career topic because I absolutely desire the ocean and the sea animals/organisms living in it. I have always enjoyed learning about an array of sciences and the water/coast. Although I already know a lot about marine biology, I am aware that there is still so much more for me to learn. Both of my top school picks are great campuses located very close to the ocean, and they also have incredible marine life/science programs. I figure that many other people at these schools are also fond of the ocean and its wonders, so I will probably enjoy the environment and people.
My Personal 20 Year Vision In 20 years I will have completed all of my college school years and started my career as well as my adult life. My main goal for the next few years is to get into college, go to one of my top schools, and learn a lot about marine life. I am really excited to move to a more beach life place and experience new things on my own. I am going to live somewhere in California depending on the colleges I attend. After graduating from college I don’t want my life to have a dramatic change except for just becoming an adult with a job, and more higher level accomplishments. I still want to live somewhere in California and maybe rent an old apartment next to my job. I am hoping my job will be regarding ocean life or biology so that I can fulfill my goals. I would like to add many modern aspects to my old-ish apartment and also buy or rescue some pets. I usually am focused on caring for dogs in my future but recently I’ve been thinking of possibly adopting a cat too. Aside from my house and job, I would also like to travel around a little when I have time. I would love to visit France and Australia to meet new people and try delicious food. I also would love to travel to a marine sanctuary and study or collect data. Aside from traveling for fun, I am also planning to visit my family often and celebrate the holidays with them and new friends that I meet. So far, I have many goals for my future but I do not have a super strict and planned out path, which is fine because I will want to make some decisions along the way.
